Subscriptions are a vital revenue source that supports our independent journalism. As we enter this next phase of expansion, we are looking for an experienced database marketing associate to join our subscriptions commercial operations team and help manage the marketing and customer acquisition data ecosystem for our growing subscriptions business.

The Database Marketing Associate will use a variety of computerized systems and database programs to pull marketing campaign lists, generate reports for marketing and business analysis, and preserve CRM data integrity. This role’s primary focus will be to drive B2B lead generation efforts by leveraging data resources to identify and segment prospects for targeted marketing efforts, including highly personalized e-mail campaigns designed for our target audience(s). In addition, this role will assist with Salesforce CRM administration and work on a variety of routine and ad-hoc tasks involving data to help improve operational efficiency and support sales and marketing.

We are looking for candidates with experience using MS Access (or similar relational databases or SQL-based tools), and working knowledge of SalesForce CRM or other comparable CRM systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Fulfill requests from marketing team for campaign lists and other data reports

  • Write database queries in MS Access to pull lists and reports from CRM system

  • Liaise with marketing communications and sales teams to determine criteria for marketing lists

  • Extract and integrate desired lists from CRM (SalesForce) system and other sources

  • Work with third-party data providers to acquire new contact and account data and/or enhance/update existing data to integrate with our CRM (SalesForce)

  • Generate reports and perform data analysis in order to identify new trends and areas of opportunity

  • Assist with administration of key systems including our CRM (SalesForce) and marketing email platform (Marketing Cloud)

  • Maintain data integrity in CRM (SalesForce) system

  • Other ad-hoc tasks to support sales and marketing

Your Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) from an accredited four-year college or university.

  • Two or more years of related professional experience (i.e., marketing, database management, investment management industry)  

  • Intermediate/Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Access or similar SQL-based tools used to design and execute complex queries/macros/processes

  • Proficient in Salesforce.com or other comparable CRM systems

  • Proficient in MS Office applications.  Must be very comfortable working with Excel and MS Access

  • Conceptual understanding of relational databases

  • Extremely detail-oriented and process-oriented

  • Aptitude for analyzing complex problems and developing logical solutions

  • Ability to communicate in a manner that is clear, concise, and precise

  • Desire to learn our business and industry in order to improve our targeted marketing efforts 

Preferred

  • Experience with SalesForce CRM administration

  • Degree in a logic-oriented major (computer science, mathematics, philosophy, etc.)

  • Certified Salesforce.com Administrator credential would be a major plus. 

  • Experience with direct mail or e-mail marketing lists

  • Experience working on large data migration projects

Base Salary Range: $80,000-$95,000
